ATHENS – There isn’t much suspense around the program about what Jarvis Jones and Alec Ogletree will decide about the NFL. Or at least that’s according to freshman linebacker Jordan Jenkins.

"If I was them, I'd be gone," Jenkins said. "All that money, I'd be gone. I don't know what they're doing - but I think everybody knows. Everybody in their mind already knows.”

Jenkins added that Jones, given a couple minor injuries this year, and the neck injury that led to him leaving Southern Cal after his freshman year, might spur Jones to head pro.

"I just figured after some of the injuries, I wouldn't try to get injured again,” Jenkins said. “Especially after Jarvis' history, I'd be ready to go, and play on the next level, make a little bit extra money."

Jenkins and Jones are not only fellow outside linebacker, but roommates on the road. Jenkins emerged this year as the possible heir apparent to Jones, recording four sacks – though still way short of the 12.5 that Jones has so far. That’s 1.5 short of the program record set by David Pollack in 2002.

“I told (Jarvis), don’t worry as soon as you leave I’m breaking your record,” Jenkins said. “You can break Pollack’s record, just know that when you leave that record’s gonna be mine.”

Pollack, when he saw that quote on Twitter, responded: “Go get it boys.”

No contact yet

So far Georgia’s coaching staff has been immune from the job carousel. And as of Wednesday at noon, no one had officially contacted head coach Mark Richt about speaking to any of his assistants.

“Not one. Can you believe that?” Richt said, smiling.

Offensive coordinator Mike Bobo has been rumored for a few head jobs at smaller schools, but is not known to have interviewed anywhere.

"I think our coaches are worthy of that, and I think our coaches have obviously been courted, but no one has called me,” Richt said. “Have I been contacted? No. I've not had one call."

One recruit will arrive very early

Georgia will need inside linebackers next year, and one new candidate will be on campus shortly: Ryne Rankin, a prospect from Orlando, has already enrolled in school and is set to practice with the team the next 10 days.

Rankin is already listed in the UGA student directory, which means he’s been accepted to school. The same goes for five others who plan to enroll early: quarterback recruit Brice Ramsey, outside linebacker Leonard Floyd, inside linebacker Reginald Carter, and offensive linemen Josh Cardiello and Aulden Bynum.

Abry Jones status uncertain

Defensive end Abry Jones still has a chance to play one more game. The senior from Warner-Robins had ankle surgery in October and has missed the past six games. But he isn’t being ruled out yet for the Capital One Bowl.

"I know his intention is to rehab and get ready to play,” Richt said. “He was making progress towards that goal. Do I know whether he'll be ready to or not? I don't know that. We've not counted him out by any means for this bowl."
