Two Fort Benning commanders are in line to receive promotions to brigadier general, according to a news release from the post Thursday.

Col. David B. Haight, commandant of the Army Infantry School, and Col. Paul J. Laughlin, commandant of the Army Armor School, have been nominated for appointment.

Both men were assigned to their posts in August.

Secretary of Defense Leon E. Panetta announced the appointments from President Barack Obama. Haight and Laughlin must be confirmed by the U.S. Senate before the promotions take effect.

Haight is a distinguished military graduate of Brigham Young University and has been on active duty since he was commissioned as a second lieutenant in 1986.

Laughlin was commissioned as a second lieutenant upon his graduation from the University of Massachusetts. He is only the third Armor School commandant to serve at Fort Benning since the Armor School's move from Fort Knox, Ky.
