Suspect arrested in robbery at Victory Drive Subway

A 25-year-old Columbus man was arrested Tuesday about an hour after a gunman robbed the Subway on Victory Drive, police said.

Police chased Jared Carswell on foot and arrested him behind a residence on Blan Street after the 10:51 a.m. robbery at 4022 Victory Drive . He was booked into the Muscogee County Jail where he was charged with one count each of armed robbery, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime, and misdemeanor obstruction of a police officer. A Recorder's Court hearing is set for 9 a.m. Thursday.

Police said a man was armed with a silver revolver when he entered the eatery. The man pointed the pistol at an employee and demanded money. The robber took an undisclosed amount of cash and and fled on foot from the business.
