Phenix City man found dead at Lee County home

The Lee County Coroner's Office is investigating the death of a 37-year-old Phenix City man who was found dead Tuesday night on Lee Road 2071 in Salem.

Richard Steven Dixon was pronounced dead at 5:45 p.m., said Lee County Coroner Bill Harris. His body has been sent to the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery to determine the cause of death. Results may be available today.

Lee County authorities were call to the area to check on a man down. When they arrived, paramedics found no signs of life in Dixon who had been doing some electrical work at the home. The owner of the home had left Dixon before he returned and found him on the ground at the base of a ladder. If is unknown whether Dixon may have fallen from the ladder.

There also is a power pole at the residence, according to Alabama Power Co. officials. The residence had no power but there was power to the pole.

The death remains under investigation by the coroner's office, Lee County Sheriff's Office and the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences.
