Meth found in Yellow Cab; two charged

A man and woman were arrested Tuesday after police stopped a Yellow Cab and found a small quantity of meth, Columbus police said.

Melody Riley, 32, the driver of the cab, and her boyfriend, Nathaniel Osborne, 23, were each charged with possession of meth and a drug related object after Riley's cab was stopped for a failed brake light at Seventh Avenue and 35th St. They are held in the Muscogee County Jail for a 2 p.m. hearing today in Recorder's Court.

Police said the cab also was stopped about 6:30 p.m. after police were alerted about a couple showing a gun to people from the cab. Riley allowed police to search the vehicle before they found the meth in a plastic bag with a street value of $270.

At the jail, Riley faced two more charges after a gram of suspected crack cocaine was found hidden in her butt. She was charged with crossing the guard line with with contraband.
