Kmart shoplifting arrests lead to drug charges

Lauren Ashley Turner, 23, and Richard Lavon Turner, 24, were arrested on shoplifting and drug possession charges Monday.

Their relationship is unclear, but they share the same West Britt David Road address.

According to Columbus police reports, witnesses at the Kmart on Airport Thruway saw Lauren Turner conceal $67.11 worth of merchandise in her pocketbook and Richard Turner conceal $19.98 worth of merchandise in his pants.

A police search found Lauren Turner possessing prescription drugs with a street value of $600 and Richard Turner possessing marijuana with a street value of $140, the report said.

Lauren Turner posted bonds totalling $5,500 and Richard Turner posted bonds totalling $750, but they forfeited them Wednesday when they failed to appear for their preliminary hearing in Recorder’s Court. Lauren Turner’s case was bound over to Superior Court. Richard Turner’s case was bound over to State Court.
