A 64-year-old man was shot in the head Wednesday night during an armed robbery on River Road.

According to Columbus police reports, the victim was in stable condition when he was taken to The Medical Center. The patient information operator Thursday morning said the man no longer was in the hospital.

Police arrested Devonte Wilkerson, 16, of Marilon Drive on charges of criminal attempt armed robbery and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. At least one other suspect is being sought, reports said.

At 7:28 p.m., police were dispatched to the area of Golden Donut near the intersection of Manchester Expressway and River Road in reference to a shooting. They found the victim sitting on the ground and bleeding from a gunshot wound to his head.

The victim identified Wilkerson as one of the suspects who shot at him, reports said. The victim also identified a camouflage ski mask Wilkerson possessed when he was detained, reports said.

Police list another victim -- a 32-year-old man with the same last name and same Seventh Avenue address as the victim who was shot in the head -- but he wasn't injured after a gun was pointed at him and he was thrown to the ground, reports said.

The case remains under investigation.
