Columbus man arrested for shoplifting at Walmart

A 39-year-old Columbus man was arrested Wednesday night for trying to steal $300.54 worth of merchandise from the Walmart Supercenter at 5448 Whittlesey Blvd.

According to a Columbus police report, officers were dispatched to the store at 9:30 p.m. in reference to three possible shoplifters. Marvin Brooks of Marion Street was charged with felony criminal attempt shoplifting. He allegedly tried to steal two Kurios, which are advertised as Android tablet computers for families.

Muscogee County Jail records show Brooks is being held without bond and has a 2 p.m. Recorder's Court hearing today.
