First baby of 2013 born at Fort Benning hospital

MIke Haskey mhaskey@ledger-enquirer.com Martha Linero-Ariza holds her newborn daughter Salome Tuesday afternoon at Martin Army Community Hospital at Fort Benning. Salome was born at 12:24 a.m. New Year's Day and weighed seven pounds six ounces and measured nineteen and three-quarters inches long. She is the second child for Linero-Ariza and husband Anvar Saadat, both of whom are Majors in the Columbian army and instrctors at the Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation. 01/01/13

The first baby of 2013 born locally arrived at 12:24 A.M.

The little girl, Salome Saadat, was delivered at Martin Army Community Hospital at Fort Benning.

The parents are both majors in the army of Colombia and are instructors at The Western Hemisphere Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC).

The first baby born in Columbus arrived at 7:06 a.m. in The Medical Center.

A boy, Jaicen Rainey, was born to Columbus residents Veronica Dean and Michael Rainey.

Both babies weighed 7 pounds, 6 ounces.
