Real Salt Lake announced Thursday that it has completed the signing of Lovel Palmer.

Palmer, who can play in midfield or defense, was selected by Salt Lake in the first round of Stage 2 of last month's MLS Re-Entry Draft but has only now agreed to terms on a contract with the club. The 28-year-old joins the Claret and Cobalt having enjoyed stints with the Houston Dynamo and Portland Timbers.

"Lovel is a versatile player who we're excited to add to our roster," Real Salt Lake GM Garth Lagerwey said. "He's a proven player on both the MLS and international levels and we believe he'll be a good fit in our system."

Per league and club policy, terms of the deal were not be disclosed.
