OK. I'm being snarky.
For some people, this is a big event.
Monster Nations Jurassic Bash has been scheduled in the Columbus Civic Center.
What is it?
It's a monster truck show. I love the names -- Smashosaurus, Bigfoot, Tailgator, Toxic, Equalizer, Red Solo Truck, Transaurus and Wheelie Wizard. Don't you wish you could name one of those big trucks?
It's going to be at 8 p.m. March 1-2.
Tickets are $14.50-$29.50 and are on sale now. You can go to the Civic Center box office or to any Publix grocery store. But remember if you're buying tickets in person, you have to have cash. No credit or debit cards and definitely no checks. Cash only. And don't forget that Ticketmaster adds a service charge, so the ticket prices go up at least $3 each.
Call the Civic Center box office at 706-653-4460 or Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000.
Years and years ago, when I was a very young reporter, I was sent out to the old Municipal Auditorium to interview a monster truck driver in person. He was a very nice man, who wanted to know if I wanted a ride. Of course, I did.
But those trucks are huge and I asked how I could possibly get into the cab of the truck.
One of his crew members, a huge, huge man, picked me up like I weighed nothing so I could get a handhold and pull myself into the truck.
After the exhilarating ride, the crew member was waiting patiently for me and helped me back down to the ground.
I swear I'd never have made into the truck without that man's help.
