Adrian Rodgers, a 16-year-old Carver High wrestler, collapsed during practice Monday morning and was pronounced dead at The Medical Center.
Deputy Coroner Freeman Worley said the teenager went into cardiac arrest after collapsing while a group was jogging.
Worley did not know where the group was practicing.
Muscogee County School District students do not return to classes until Thursday.
Freeman said he wasn't aware of any medical issues Rodgers may have been facing.
More details should be available this afternoon after an autopsy.
His body was sent to Atlanta Monday night.
Valerie Fuller, communications director for the MCSD, was not reached for comment.
Carver athletic director Dell McGee would not comment, only saying wrestling coach Mikal Underwood was "very distraught right now."
