Hank Greenberg, a decorated World War II and the Korean War veteran and former chairman of American International Group, was presented the Order of St. Maurice today for his contributions to the infantry.

“It means a lot,” Greenberg said after the ceremony in Patriot Hall of the National Infantry Museum and Soldier Center. “It brings back a lot of memories of my military service and I think the importance of the military today.”

After completing basic training at Fort Benning in the 1940s, Greenberg was back in the area to receive the highest honor presented by the National Infantry Association. He was presented the award by Bill Steele, a board member of the National Infantry Association, as members of the Infantry Officers Basic Course looked on.
