Miss Alabama 2012 Katherine Webb will appear in this year's Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, the magazine confirmed Friday.

The issue goes on sale the week of Feb. 11. "When Sports Illustrated called it just became even more real that this is happening. Every single model wants to be in Sports Illustrated, and I feel extremely blessed to have that opportunity," Webb said in an online interview.

Webb, who was raised in the Columbus-Phenix City area, achieved Internet fame earlier this week when she watched her boyfriend, AJ McCarron, play for the University of Alabama in the BCS National Championship.

McCarron is the starting quarterback for the University of Alabama. Webb graduated from Auburn University.

The headline-making moment came about 30 minutes into the game, when ESPN's camera turned to Webb. Sportscaster Brent Musburger offered some comments best summarized as "interesting."

"You quarterbacks, you get all the good-looking women," said Musburger, whose age is listed as 73 on Wikipedia. "What a beautiful woman."

ESPN on Tuesday afternoon apologized for the comments, which spawned online humor including a "Creepy Musberger" parody Twitter account.

Meanwhile, Webb gained a deluge of new Twitter followers.
