A Columbus man and woman were charged early Thursday after police found them engaged in sexual activity near Applebee’s on the Airport Thruway.

Renate Price, 41, and Dante Johnson, 24, were each charged with one count of public indecency and loitering after they were found about 2:20 a.m. inside a 2012 Dodge Charger in the parking lot. Both were released on bond from the Muscogee County Jail.

Police Sgt. Joseph Hart was working security at the Landings Shopping Center when he observed the car parked in front of the closed eatery. That’s when Hart realized a man and woman were together in the passenger’s seat. Hart stepped from his police cruiser, went to the passenger’s side of the car where he discovered Johnson’s pants were open and Price had leaned back across the center console into the driver’s seat.

“Neither party commented on what they were doing in the vehicle, other than to say that they were sorry and would both go straight home,” the officer said in a report.
