Two suspects arrested after car hits pawn shop

Phenix City police have arrested two men in connection with a robbery at The Pawn Headquarters.

Police say the two along with two others were in a white SUV that ran into the store.

Arrested were Nathan Twan Maquez Jones , 20, and Jatavious Martez Taylor, 18.

According to a statement from Captain Frank Ivey, both suspects were charged with two counts of burglary 3rd degree, theft of property 1st degree, and attempting to elude and criminal trespassing 3rd degree.

In the report, Ivey says the two who escaped police have been identified.

Police say that Saturday around 5 a.m. officers responded to the store on the 280 Bypass after getting a report about the car hitting the building. Officers encountered a white SUV traveling at a high rate of speed. Officers attempted to stop the vehicle but it refused to stop.

The vehicle traveled several blocks before coming to a stop in the Fred Douglas apartment complex. Two were caught.

The case is under investigation.
