Published: January 16, 2013

The funeral for blues singer Precious Bussey Bryant has been set for 1 p.m. Saturday at Salem Primitive Baptist Church in Talbotton.

Bryant died Saturday at The Medical Center after a six-week battle with complications from diabetes and congestive heart failure. She was 71.

Bryant started playing the guitar as a child and honed her craft singing the blues at fish fries, barbecues and get togethers. She frequently played at festivals and events throughout the Southeast, said her sister Zola Bussey Goodwin.
