Fire at Dawson Elementary, students evacuated

Students were evacuated from Dawson Elementary this afternoon after a fire broke out at the Northstar Drive school.

Columbus Fire Marshal Ricky Shores said the fire was in a hallway bathroom and contained there.

The call was received around 4:30 p.m.

He said 50-60 students were evacuated from an after school program and 10 adults, as well. There were no injuries.

"There was heavy smoke," he said. "There is smoke damage."

No cause for the fire was given.
