Columbus State softball players Casey Googe and Mollie Russell were named to the preseason all-Peach Belt Conference team Thursday.

Googe and Russell led CSU to the PBC tournament championship last season.

Googe had one of the best offensive seasons in CSU and PBC history with 22 home runs, breaking the school and conference single-season record and just one shy of the national leader.

Russell had a 21-12 record and registered three saves. She was fourth nationally with a 0.93 earned run average.

Columbus State begins its 2013 season in the first PBC/SSC Challenge at South Commons. The Lady Cougars open on Feb. 2 against Lynn University at 1:30 p.m.
