Townsend joins DCU in trade from Chivas

Washington, D.C. (Sports Network) - D.C. United added forward Casey Townsend in a trade from Chivas USA on Friday in exchange for a 2014 MLS SuperDraft natural second-round pick.

Chivas drafted Townsend with the fifth overall pick in last year's MLS SuperDraft, and he went on to score one goal and assist on two others in 17 appearances for the Goats last term, including 10 starts.

The 23-year-old has also represented the United States at the Under-18 and U-20 levels.
