Recap: Appalachian St vs. Davidson

De'Mon Brooks recorded a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, as the Davidson Wildcats roughed up the Appalachian State Mountaineers, 79-56, in Southern Conference play at the Holmes Center.

Jake Cohen scored a team-high 17 points to help the Wildcats (13-7, 8-1 SoCon) extend their season-long winning streak to four in a row. Tyler Kalinoski contributed 15 points off the bench as he shot 6-of-8 from the floor, while Chris Czerapowicz tallied 13 points and seven boards in the win.

Tevin Baskin had 18 points and Nathan Healy scored 13 for the Mountaineers (8-11, 4-4), who suffered their first home loss since November and never led in the contest.

Davidson used an early 15-2 run to take a 20-7 lead at the 14:25 mark of the opening frame. The Wildcats went on to shoot 61.5 percent from the floor in the first half as they grabbed a comfortable, 45-23 halftime lead. Appalachian State made only 6-of-28 field goals (.214) in the period.

The Wildcats pushed their lead to 30 on a 3-pointer by Kalinoski with just over nine minutes to play in regulation, and ASU never cut the margin below 20 the rest of the way.

In addition to their superior shooting, the Wildcats held a sizeable, 41-29 rebounding advantage for the game.
