LaGrange police make arrest after car chase

Police in LaGrange, Ga. arrested a juvenile after a car chase Saturday night.

At 11:06 p.m. LaGrange police officers responded to South Dawson Street in reference to a car being stolen.

Troup County 911 gave police a description of the vehicle. Officers then spotted the vehicle in the area of Colquitt Street and Hamilton Road.

According to the police report, officers attempted to stop the vehicle at which time the driver of the vehicle began driving in a reckless manner as if trying to flee. The driver of the vehicle refused to stop for the patrol car.

The driver then crashed in the 600 block of East Depot Street at which time the driver got out and began running.

Officers chased the juvenile on foot and made the arrest.

The driver was not injured in the crash.

Police say the driver will be charged with theft by taking of a motor vehicle, driving while unlicensed, reckless driving, fleeing and attempting to elude, and obstructing or hindering of officers.

The case is still under investigation.
