The Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office had attempted to serve a search warrant on the occupant of a pickup truck shortly before it crashed into a building at the corner of Gentian Boulevard and Reese Road in Columbus.

Sheriff Maj. Randy Robertson said possibly two suspects will face charges in the 1:45 p.m. crash into a business formerly called The Mattress Factory.

Robertson said the truck tried to elude deputies after they tried to serve a search warrant on one of the occupants. Following department policy, deputies stopped pursuing the vehicle after it entered the two-lane road.

The business at the busy intersection now sell appliances.
