20 drops Blue McCormick Assorted NEON! Food Colors & Egg Dye
2 teaspoons McCormick Pure Vanilla Extract
Purple Twist Frosting:
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
2 teaspoons McCormick Pure Vanilla Extract
4 cups confectioners sugar (1 pound)
2 tablespoons milk
1/2 teaspoon Purple McCormick Assorted NEON! Food Colors & Egg Dye
15 drops Blue McCormick Assorted NEON! Food Colors & Egg Dye
1/2 teaspoon McCormick Black Food Color
1. Prepare cake mix as directed on package, adding food colors and vanilla. Spoon into paper-lined muffin pan.
2. Bake as directed on package for cupcakes. Cool cupcakes on wire rack.
3. For the Purple Twist Frosting, beat butter and vanilla in large bowl with electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy. Gradually add confectioners sugar, beating well after each addition and scraping sides and bottom of bowl frequently. Add milk; beat until light and fluffy. (If frosting is too thick to spread, gradually beat in additional milk.)
4. Divide frosting in half into 2 bowls. Stir in purple and blue food colors into 1 bowl. Stir black food color into second bowl. Fit a pastry bag with a large star tip. Fill bag with both colors of frosting, placing them side by side in bag. Pipe frosting onto cupcakes. Tips
Test Kitchen Tips:
For easier measurement, 1/4 teaspoon Food Color = 20 to 25 drops
To use canned white frosting, stir 1 teaspoon of the vanilla and 30 drops Purple and 10 drops Blue McCormick® Assorted NEON! Food Colors & Egg Dye into 1 container (16 ounces) frosting. Stir 1 teaspoon vanilla and 1/2 teaspoon McCormick® Black Food Color into second container frosting. Continue as directed.
If a pastry bag is unavailable, place 1 tablespoon of each color frosting on each cupcake. Spread and swirl frosting with small knife or spatula.
