Columbus Cottonmouths shut out Mississippi RiverKings

— Goalie Andrew Loewen stopped all 22 shots he faced as the Columbus Cottonmouths blanked the Mississippi RiverKings 3-0 on Saturday night.

The Snakes remained in fifth place in the SPHL standings with 43 points, two behyind Knoxville, three behind Louisiana and Pensacola and four behind Fayetteville.

Chris Bailer scored Columbus’ first goal at 4:02 of the first period. Sam Bowles and Jason Yuel had the assists.

Mark Thornburn scored at 18:22 of the second period for a 2-0 lead. Bowles and Kevin Kessler had the assists.

Biff McNally finished the scoring at 17:49 of the final period. Derek Pallardy had the assist.

Columbus is off until Friday when it travels to Fayetteville. The Cottonmouths return home to host the RiverKings on Saturday and Augusta on Sunday.
