A woman arrested for cocaine possession attempted to hide her pipe behind her back to avoid arrest Tuesday, according to a Columbus Police Department report.

Diane Harris, 56, was arrested at about 1:15 a.m. Tuesday after officers stopped her for walking in the middle of the street near 25th Avenue and Dawson Street. Harris told officers she was going home, but couldn't give an address. When one officer noticed she was nervous, he asked if she had any illegal substances on her. Harris said no, and allowed police to search her.

During the search, Harris was asked about a hard object in her pocket. She immediately grabbed the object and held it out of sight in her hand. When officers asked her what was in her hand, she put her hand behind her back. Police then grabbed her hand and retrieved a glass pipe commonly used for crack cocaine.

Harris was charged with possession of cocaine. She was taken to Muscogee County Jail.
