Update: Central's Fraser signs with Louisville; Derek King, Deon Hall, Jeremiah Payne also sign

February 6, 2013

Four football players from Central High signed letters of intent on national signing day Wednesday.

As expected, offensive lineman Cameron Fraser signed with the University of Louisville, which he committed to last week after months of being committed to South Florida.

Joining Fraser was running back Deon Hall (Benedict College), defensive tackle Derek King (St. Augustine’s University and offensive lineman Jeremiah Payne (St. Augustine’s University.

Fraser said that after a long and stressful process, he was happy to close the book on recruiting.

“It’s good to have all the pressure lifted, and I feel like I made the right decision,” Fraser said.

Fraser graded out at 84 percent on his blocks for Central in 2012, helping to pave the way for an impressive running game that got the Red Devils to the first round of the Class 6A state playoffs.

Coach Woodrow Lowe said last week that he saw Fraser as a left tackle at the next level and expected him to be able to compete well for playing time. Payne was also an offensive lineman on that skilled unit.

Behind that line, Hall rushed for 758 yards and eight touchdowns. King racked up 67 tackles on the other side of the ball.
