For the second time in the last two weeks, a Georgia National Guard unit attached to the Columbus-based 648th Maneuver Enhancement Brigade is deploying to Afghanistan.

A departure ceremony will be held at 8 a.m. Friday for the 878th Engineer Battalion at the Whole Life Ministry facility in Augusta. The citizen soldiers depart two weeks after the 848th Engineer Company, another unit attached to the brigade, deployed nearly 100 to Afghanistan.
