Man hit with baseball bat in armed robbery

A 70-year-old Upatoi, Ga. man told Columbus police he was hit with a baseball bat and robbed of $8,000 and medication Friday night.

According to the police report, the incident occurred shortly after 10 p.m. outside on 23rd Street.

The victim was struck in the left side of the head. He suffered a cut to the right knee. He was treated at The Medical Center and released.

The man told police his attacker took $8,000 in cash and prescription pills valued at $348.

No description of the thief was given.
