Columbus State's bullpen continues to struggle

— The Columbus State bullpen continues to struggle, and Sunday the Cougars lost 8-7 to Saint Leo in 10 innings.

With the win, the Lions finished a three-game sweep of the Cougars (2-5).

In Sunday's loss, the Cougars' bullpen gave up seven runs (five earned) on 14 hits in 8 1-3 innings. Starter Caden Ferguson left the game after one inning due to an undisclosed injury.

This season, the CSU bullpen is 0-3 with a 9.51 ERA (24 earned runs in 23 2-3 innings).

The Cougars scored twice in the ninth to take a 7-5 lead. Saint Leo tied it in the bottom of the ninth as Bobby Twitty hit a two-run homer off Bronson Gagner.

Hart Mizell (0-1) took the loss as the Lions scored an unearned run in the 10th to win.

J.D. Pullen went 3-for-6 with a run scored to lead CSU. Ryan Lewis, Brett Teschner and Cameron Scott all were 2-for-5 with a RBI.
