Chattahoochee Valley Community College baseball team continued its perfect start to the season with a 6-1 victory over West Georgia Tech on Thursday afternoon at Golden Park.
The Pirates 8-0 start is the best beginning to a season in the coach Adam Thomas era.
Colt Ramsey (1-0) picked up the win in relief. He went 2 2-3 innings and allowed just one hit and struck out five.
Starter Kevin Moores wildness didnt allow him to go the necessary five innings to qualify for the win. He didnt allow a run in his four innings of work, but he did give up four hits and five walks.
Dominique Smedley (3-for-5) had a single,double and triple to come up just a homer short of hitting for the cycle.
Gaige Garrett went 2-for-3 and Tim Massengale had a double and an RBI. Nick Jones, who entered the game hitting .600, went 1-for-4.
CVCC will host Andrew at 2 p.m. today at Golden Park, which CVCC is using this season while Howard Lake Field undergoes renovations.
