The Market seafood restaurant in downtown Columbus is closing: Will you miss it?

ssorich@ledger-enquirer.comFebruary 15, 2013

Saturday is the last night of business for The Market, a seafood restaurant in downtown Columbus.

The news comes from a message posted Friday on the restaurant's Facebook page. It notes, "After 15 years in business, The Market has decided to close its Uptown location. We want you all to know that we have struggled with this decision because you have given us the greatest gift over the years…allowing us to be part of your life and your life events."

In recent years, the restaurant has occupied a space at 1039 First Ave. Prior to that, it was in a much smaller space at the corner of Manchester Expressway and 17th Avenue in Columbus.

"We want to go back to the small local 'hole in the wall' place we so enjoyed for many years and when the release from our lease presented itself, we decided the time was right," the aforementioned Facebook post says.

The Market also has a Lake Harding location, Shoreline Grill. There are apparently no plans to close that restaurant.
