Columbus police are investigating the reported theft of $2,200 from a shoebox in a Columbus apartment.

According to a police report, the crime occurred Friday, Feb. 15 between 5 p.m. and 10 p.m. at an apartment on Conner Road.

The thief entered through a kitchen window that was shattered. Estimated cost of the damage is $100.

The shoebox was on the floor in a bedroom. The victim told police he had just cashed his income tax check.
