River Plate won for the second time in as many games to start the new season on Sunday as David Trezeguet netted the lone goal in a 1-0 home win over Estudiantes.
After finishing in eighth place last term in its return to the top flight, River Plate has gotten off to a good start this season, winning a pair of one- goal games to sit tied atop the league.
Trezeguet's goal arrived in the 31st minute on the volley and it marked his first in the league since September.
Lanus has also won its first two matches of the campaign after a 3-0 victory at Newell's.
The club has outscored its opponents 7-1 in the first two games, with Silvio Romero and Mario Regueiro each scoring against Newell's for the second successive match.
