Jankovic moves on; Cornet ousted in Bogota

Former world No. 1 Jelena Jankovic was tested in a first-round affair, while second seed Alize Cornet was unable to get past the second round at the Copa Claro Colsanitas tennis event.

The top-seeded Serbian star Jankovic held off American Julia Cohen 6-4, 5-7, 6-2, while Brazilian qualifier Teliana Pereira upended the French Cornet 7-5, 6-7 (2-7), 6-2 Wednesday on the red clay at Centro de Alto Rendimiento.

Up next for the former U.S. Open runner-up Jankovic will be Colombian crowd favorite Mariana Duque Marino.

In some other second-round action, Luxembourg's Mandy Minella upended eighth- seeded Hungarian Timea Babos 6-1, 6-4 and Spain's Maria-Teresa Torro-Flor bested France's Mathilde Johansson 7-6 (7-3), 6-3. Johansson was the Bogota runner-up two years ago.

In other first-round play, the wild card and 2010 Bogota champ Duque Marino got past Spaniard Estrella Cabeza Candela 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.

The newest Bogota champion will earn $40,000.
