Second suspect arrested in Hurtsboro, Ala., double homicide

A second suspect has been charged in the Monday night slayings of two people in Hurtsboro, Ala., the Russell County Sheriff’s Office said today.

Frederick Bowen, 23, of Columbus faces charges in the deaths of Reginald Berry, 35, of Pittsview, Ala., and Michelle Denise Buchannon, 27, of Opelika, Ala. Both died of multiple gunshot wounds in a Buick LeSabre found on Shady Grove Road.

Bowen's bond was set at $750,000.

Rashawn Ricks of Bullock County, Ala., was charged with two counts of capital murder Tuesday in the deaths. He is being held on $1.5 million bond at the Russell County Jail.

Warrants also were issued Wednesday for two other men in the deaths. Authorities identified the suspects as Dexter Saxton, 19, and Derrick Cliatt, 20.

Court dates for Bowen and Ricks have not yet been set.
