Recap: Western Mich vs. Pacific

Shayne Whittington had 14 points and seven rebounds, as the Western Michigan Broncos upended the Pacific Tigers, 67-62, in a BracketBuster matchup at University Arena.

Darius Paul chipped in with 13 points and six boards for the Broncos (17-9), who entered the weekend tied with Toledo for the top spot in the MAC West Division standings. Brandon Pokley and David Brown scored 11 apiece in the win.

Tony Gill had a game-high 18 points off the bench for the Tigers (15-12). Lorenzo McCloud added 15 points and Sama Taku scored 10 in the loss.

WMU jumped out to an early 9-2 lead, its largest of the game. The Broncos went on to shoot a healthy 56.5 percent from the floor in the opening frame, although they led by only a 33-29 margin at the break.

The Broncos kept up the defensive pressure in the second stanza, as they held Pacific to 36.7-percent shooting from the floor to seal the win.

The Tigers shot just 11-of-30 from the floor in both halves, and they also finished the game 11-of-30 from beyond the arc.
