A woman was stabbed multiple times Friday with scissors after she was accused by her assailant of stealing money, according to a Columbus Police Department report.

Police responded to the 3300 block of North Lumpkin Road at about 10 p.m. after receiving reports of an assault. When they arrived, the victim told police that Matesha Searcy, 30, had stabbed her after claiming the victim had stolen her money. The victim had multiple stab wounds in the back and facial area.

After the victim told police Searcy was with her kids at her apartment, police confronted Searcy who told police she had stabbed the victim. However, she said the stabbing took place during a fight in which the victim grabbed her head.

Searcy was arrested and charged with aggravated assault. She was transported to Muscogee County Jail.
