The Bachelor TV blog: Sean Lowe chooses Lindsay and Catherine, eliminates an angry AshLee and her killer stare

dminty@ledger-enquirer.comFebruary 25, 2013

I think it's safe to say that AshLee was completely blindsided when Bachelor Sean Lowe eliminated her on Monday's second-to-last episode of the season. Lindsay and Catherine are the final two bachelorettes, one could become Sean's wife, but viewers are likely too fixated on AshLee's evil glare at Sean to think about his future happiness. Wow, if AshLee's eyes could kill, Sean would be gone. Long gone. Gone forever. No more Sean. Yikes, she's still giving him that look. Only Tierra has seen that look from AshLee before. She leaves without the usual hugs and tearful goodbyes with the other bachelorettes. She tells Sean "just stay here" as he attempts to walk her to the limo. He asks for a chance to explain. She hesitates and gives him that stare, again. He's nervous. I'm nervous. We're all nervous. Ouch. It hurts to look at her, looking at Sean, like that, but I can't look away.

Sean stammers a bit before he says: "This was honestly the hardest decision I've ever had to make." AshLee's look proves that she does not give a (insert your favorite expletive here) about Sean's feelings. She says nothing to him. In the limo, she says: "This wasn't a silly game to me. This wasn't about joyriding and laughter and joking and having fun... It's hard to say goodbye to Sean because I let him in. I loved him. It's the ultimate reject." She keeps turning around awkwardly in the limo seat, I guess in attempt to hide her tears. I'm just glad that I don't have to see that stare again. "I thought Sean was the one." I wonder how long they had to drive her around in the limo before she'd comment.

Here's a recap of the episode

Sean and his final three bachelorettes travel to Thailand for their private, possibly overnight dates in the fantasy suites. On the dates, it seems the women have to prove themselves to the 29-year-old bachelor from Dallas. AshLee lets Sean lead her through dark and scary caves in the ocean to prove that she can trust again. Lindsay proves she's adventurous by eating bugs at the downtown market. Catherine proves she's falling in love with Sean by agreeing to go with him to the fantasy suite, in spite of her traditional values.

After all three overnight dates and before watching video messages from AshLee, Catherine and Lindsay, Sean thinks he knows who he needs to send home. "I don't know if I have the words. I don't know if I have the courage," Sean tells host Chris Harrison. "It kills me to think about it." Sean was eliminated by Bachelorette Emily Maynard after making it to her final three, so he'll likely have an idea how tonight's eliminated bachelorette will be feeling. On the positive side, Sean thinks his future wife is one of his final three bachelorettes. "I think I will get down on one knee," he tells Chris.

After watching the bachelorettes' video messages, Sean looks confused. Uh-oh. AshLee told him that together they were whole and that she was broken but he fixed her.

The last date of the episode is with Catherine. She agrees to go with Sean to the fantasy suite. I'm not sure she told him that she loved him. In her video message, she says she's "falling in love with him."

At dinner, Catherine tells Sean that before she came on the show she thought she'd absolutely NOT agree to go to the fantasy suite with the then-unknown-to-Catherine bachelor. "I wanted to make sure that I was still seen as a lady," Catherine says. But now, she sees the fantasy suite as the solution to the timetable question. It's just "uninterrupted hours," Sean says. Sean says he loves Catherine's traditional values and he's ready to spend more time with her. Catherine tells Sean that she never thought someone as attractive as Sean would like her. She says she was made fun of as a kid and called chubby. "You are smoking hot, OK? I'm the lucky one. Promise." Sean says. "You make me happy," he says. That's enough to make Catherine question her traditional values, apparently. "Being intimate tonight is really important. When I look into Sean's eyes, something visceral happens. When we're together, he feels like he's mine and that I'm his and nothing else matters," she says. "I fell in love with Sean today, and I want Sean to be my husband," Catherine says.

Sean wonders if Catherine is ready to settle down and have a family. He asks her while they sip white wine on a boat. Catherine says that she is. She says she has been scared before but since she feels like herself around Sean, she's sure that she's ready. Sean says that puts his mind at ease. Well, that settles that. (Ha, word fun!) "I know what Sean has to offer and he's such a good guy," Catherine says. She has not yet told Sean that she loves him but she plans to... soon. They swim for a bit before it starts raining. "Kissing Sean in the rain is probably the most romantic thing I've ever done," says Catherine.

Date two is with AshLee, the 32-year-old professional organizer from Houston. She accepts the fantasy suite invitation with Sean, which he assures her is just to spend time talking. "I trust him," AshLee says. Previously, AshLee shouted on the beach that she loved Sean, so tonight she tells him exactly what kind and cut of diamond ring she wants and what size her finger is. Hint, hint, hint. Sean says he's glad that she knows what she wants. Uh-huh. Now he knows what he wants.

"Sean is my soul mate... I love this man and this man has literally healed my broken heart. If I have anything to do with it, I will spend the rest of my life with this man," AshLee says.

After a romantic boat ride, things get scary. Sean leads AshLee through dark and windy looking caves in the ocean. "Now I'm more vulnerable than I've ever been in my life," Ashley says. Sean says he has to figure out if AshLee can learn to trust again. Her birth parents abandoned her and she spent several years in foster care before being adopted. AshLee was afraid but Sean made her feel safe. "My commitment is to Sean, and my commitment is to change my previous way of thinking," AshLee says. "AshLee and I find the lights at the end of the tunnel," Sean says. They leave the dark caves behind and emerge on a gorgeous island area. "I feel like I'm AshLee's protector," Sean says.

Date one is with Lindsay. She accepts the fantasy suite offer and spends the night with Sean, probably just chatting. She tells him that she loves him.

Lindsay gets the first date. They walk around a market and Sean decides they should taste the one thing that Lindsay said she didn't want to eat -- bugs! She ate a little bug and then a grass hopper. She didn't enjoy them. "She's a sport and she went ahead and did it," Sean says. He says he needs to live a fun and adventurous life... that apparently includes eating bugs. "You're the best friend that I've been looking for," Sean tells Lindsay. She says that's going to make her cry. Sean seems touched. At sunset, they change into their swimsuits and show their softer sides by feeding some adorable monkeys hanging out along the beach. And then it's time for the show's famous beach-at-sunset footage -- gorgeous sky, calm ocean, beautiful people.

At dinner, Sean and Lindsay have a private meal before Lindsay agrees to accompany Sean to the fantasy suite for an overnight date. "I would love to spend that time with you," Lindsay says. After a champagne toast in the suite, Sean says he thinks being married to Lindsay would be like being married to his best friend. "There is something that I want to tell you," Lindsay says. "What?" Sean says. "I love you," Lindsay says. She called the moment "life changing."

Before the dates begin, Sean says his heart is torn between his final three ladies. He has pictured all of them as his future wife. Whoever won Sean's heart must have felt super special when she heard that.

About Catherine: "She's a little weird and nerdy and goofy," like me, Sean says.

About AshLee: "I never have to guess what she's feeling," Sean says. "We want the same types of things out of life."

About Lindsay: "She's so much more than the crazy girl in a wedding dress that I met the first night," he says.

The final three bachelorettes

Catherine, a 26-year-old from Seattle.

Lindsay, a 24-year-old substitute teacher in Montana. She stepped out of the limo in a wedding gown on the first episode.

AshLee F, a 32-year-old professional organizer from Houston. Her birth parents abandoned her and she was in foster care before being adopted by a pastor and his family.

ELIMINATED ON THE SEVENTH WEEK

Desiree, a 26-year-old bridal stylist from LA.

ELIMINATED ON WEEK SIX EPISODE:

Lesley M., a 25-year-old Washington, D.C. political consultant from Arkansas, says she's a modern Southern belle. "Rejection hurts. Heartbreak hurts," she says. "I hoped it would be Sean. Unfortunately, it's not what I think. It's what he thinks." Catherine seems to have a tough time when Lesley is eliminated. "If he doesn't want Lesley I don't know why I'm here. She has more in common with him than I do... my beliefs are shattered about what he wants," she said.

Tierra, a 24-year-old from Denver, who fails to get along with the other bachelorettes and seems to have accidents/illnesses that line up with spending more alone time with Sean.

ELIMINATED ON WEEK FIVE, SECOND NIGHT

Daniella, a 24-year-old from San Francisco. "I'm in complete shock... I'm hurt," she said. "It's tough to have your heart broken... I want to find love, really badly."

Selma, a 29-year-old real estate developer in California. "I'm leaving with a heartbreak and a memory... It's really hard to leave, and Tierra is in there celebrating."

Sarah, a 26-year-old who works in advertising in LA, who was born with just one arm. Sean eliminated her before the rose ceremony.

ELIMINATED WEEK FIVE, FIRST NIGHT

Jackie, a 25-year-old cosmetics consultant from Florida

Robyn, a 24-year-old engineer in Houston. She fell down doing back flips out of the limo on episode one. "What was he thinking sending me home instead of Tierra?" she wondered. "He probably thinks I'm the one starting the drama."

ELIMINATED WEEK FOUR

Leslie H, a 29-year-old poker dealer. "It sucks saying goodbye to Sean... I would honestly give back all these clothes and these diamond earrings to have more time with him," she said. She was eliminated after a one-on-one date that included a shopping spree on Rodeo Drive.

Amanda, a 26-year-old fitness model in California. "I feel really rejected... It's going to be hard to get over Sean... I feel stupid." She was eliminated after a group roller derby date where she fell and hurt her jaw. The injury required a trip to the hospital and was visibly swollen at the elimination rose ceremony.

ELIMINATED WEEK THREE:

Upon being eliminated, Kacie B. said: "I really wanted this to work." Sean told her that he tried to move her out of the friend zone but he just didn't feel anything romantic for her. Before the rose ceremony, he asked to speak with her for a minute, and he let her go without forcing her to stand through the rose ceremony. The 25-year-old from Tennessee, has appeared on "The Bachelor" before. She was a bachelorette on Ben's season and she and Sean met in New York at a post-Bachelor party and clicked as friends. Kacie arrived on this season's show as a surprise to see if she and Sean could form a romantic bond.

Taryn, a 30-year-old from Oregon, said "Maybe I wasn't sweet enough for him."

Kristy, a 25-year-old Ford model. "I wish I would have found love here but you can't force something that isn't there," she said.

ELIMINATED WEEK TWO

Diana, a 31-year-old stylist in Salt Lake City Utah and mom to two girls. "I'm sad to not have more time with him," she said.

Brooke, a 25-year-old community organizer from Pittsburgh. "Love just was not here. It wasn't," she said.

Katie, a 27-year-old yoga teacher in Charlotte, chose to leave the show during the season's first group date.

ELIMINATED WEEK ONE:

Kelly, a 28-year-old cruise ship entertainer from Nashville, sang for Sean during their introduction. She was embarrassed to be eliminated. "I feel like, who'd want to date the crazy girl that sings a song for Sean and gets kicks off 'The Bachelor' the first week," she said.

Paige, a 25-year-old New York jumbotron operator, also failed to receive a rose when she appeared on season 3 of "The Bachelor Pad." She felt embarrassed to be eliminated so quickly from both shows. "When you fail again, that sucks... It's really sad," she said.

Ashley H, a 25-year-old fashion model, told Sean that her blue dress matched his eyes. I guess he was unimpressed. "The devastation, I try not to let it sink in but it hurts," she said.

Lauren, a 27-year-old journalist from Rhode Island, told Sean about her Italian family. Her dad told Lauren to tell Sean, "If you break my heart he's going to break your legs." I guess the threat was a bad idea.

Ashley P., a 28-year-old Michigan stylist and fan of "Fifty Shades of Grey," said: "It's a little bit of a bumsky." She then did a little dance and hiked up her dress to show Sean what he was missing. "Mom, don't be mad," she said in her exit interview.

Keriann, a 29-year-old entrepreneur from Florida, told Sean she drove over 2,775 miles to meet him. "That's so flattering." Sean said. I guess flattery will get you no where with Sean.

Lacey, a 24-year-old student in California, gave Sean a piece of lace so he'd remember her name. Maybe he still forgot to call it out during the elimination ceremony?
