Cottonmouths lose second straight to Louisiana

— The Columbus Cottonmouths lost for the second night in a row to Louisiana, this one a 3-1 decision on Friday night at the Cajundome.

Mark Thornburn gave the Snakes a 1-0 lead with a power-play goal at 4:24 of the first period.

Louisiana’s Jeremy Boyer scored twice in the opening period, at 14:09 and again at 19:31.

Jordan Freeman added a goal in the third period for the IceGators, who continue to lead the SPHL standings.

Columbus played at the Mississippi Surge on Saturday night.
