March 15: Bid on painted rain barrels at watersmART

March 4, 2013

The Chattahoochee RiverWarden sponsors watersmART, an auction of beautifully painted rain barrels, at Outside World at 6 p.m. Friday, March 15. Guests will have the opportunity to bid on rain barrels painted by regional artists including Ralph Frank, Florence Neal, Columbus State University Art Department students and faculty and others.

This event, which is part of Artbeat of Columbus, will be hosted by WRBL's Bob Jeswald. Reception and preview begin at 6 p.m., with the auction following at 6:30. Admission is free.

Rain barrels can save homeowners 1,300 gallons of water each summer—free water that can be used on flower beds and lawns during times of drought. They can save money while reducing the amount of runoff flowing into storm drains, and that keeps oil, pesticide, and fertilizer out of streams.
