March 14: Artbeat of Columbus kicks off

March 6, 2013

Artbeat of Columbus 2013 kicks off at 11 a.m. March 14 in front of the Bradley Theatre, 1241 Broadway.

You can watch Columbus Mayor Teresa Tomlinson and the students of Downtown Magnet Elementary School and St. Luke School write on the "Before I Die" wall. You can write on the wall, too. Put down your thoughts of how to make things better for yourself or your community. It can be frivolous or serious.

Then from 4:45-6 p.m. March 14, in front of the W.C. Bradley Co. Museum, 1017 Front Ave., watch the Springer Theater Academy Stilt Walkers, get your face painted and do some sidewalk art.

There will be performances by Jordan High School Jazz Group, Kendrick High School Choral Group, an excerpt from "Rent" by the Columbus State University department of art, River Road School STOMPers and the Youth Orchestra of Greater Columbus and the Wynnton Arts Academy's live sculptures.

From 6-8 p.m. March 14, there's the opening reception of an exhibit by Sarah Kent Butler inside the Bradley Co. Museum.

Until March 31, there are plenty of other events for children and adults.
