Should 'Ignition (Remix)' be our new national anthem?

It’s the freakin’ weekend, baby. I’m about to have me some fun. Sound familiar? If you think R. Kelly’s “Ignition (Remix)” is the greatest song ever, you’re not alone, In fact, there’s an online petition asking the Obama administration to make it our new national anthem.

Here's an excerpt from the petition, which has over 8,000 signatures:

"We, the undersigned, would like the Obama administration to recognize the need for a new national anthem, one that even a decade after its creation, is still hot and fresh out the kitchen. America has changed since Francis Scott Key penned our current anthem in 1814."

Does the movement have merit? You decide.

Of course, it's hard to discuss the song without mentioning all the fabulous YouTube covers out there. Like this one by Joseph Gordon-Levitt:

Here's an equally stellar cover by Young The Giant:

"Ignition" on the ukulele? You better believe it.

Don't miss this cover by Jinja Safari:

Finally, my favorite: a cover by Meg & Dia, an act that includes "The Voice" runner-up Dia Frampton:
