Winston-Salem, NC (Sports Network) - C.J. Harris poured in 29 points to lead the way as the Wake Forest Demon Deacons defeated the Virginia Tech Hokies, 90-79, in an Atlantic Coast Conference bout at Joel Coliseum.
Devin Thomas added 17 points, eight rebounds and four assists for Wake Forest (13-17, 6-12 ACC) as it snapped a three-game losing streak. Arnaud Adala Moto chipped in 16 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the floor and Codi Miller- McIntyre scored 10 points.
Erick Green, who leads the nation in scoring, paced Virginia Tech (13-18, 4-14) with 35 points. Marquis Rankin provided a spark off the bench for the Hokies with 15 points and Jarell Eddie chimed in with 13 points. The loss was the second in a row and third in four games for Virginia Tech.
The Demon Deacons came out of the gate on fire to hit 60.9 percent of their field goal attempts including 5-of-9 from 3-point range. Virginia Tech went into the intermission trailing, 41-27, after it shot just 39.3 percent from the field before the break.
The Hokies heated up to hit on 58.6 percent of their field goal tries in the second stanza. They also converted 14-of-18 at the free-throw line. Wake Forest stayed in front by a comfortable margin as it sank 57.5 percent of its shots from the field over the final 20 minutes.
Despite the loss, Virginia Tech enjoyed a narrow, 31-29, edge in the rebounding battle. Wake Forest assisted 21 of its 29 makes from the floor.
