Columbus State University's Oxbow Meadows Environmental Learning Center offers several educational and entertaining animal encounters.

Grand Opening of the Audubon Bird Park: May 11, all day. Birds of a feather will be flocking to Oxbow for the Grand Opening of the Columbus Audubon Association's Bird Park. Visit the newest addition to the Oxbow Meadows gardens while enjoying a day full of bird-brained activities. Reading Club: 11-11:30 a.m. every Saturday. Slip into Oxbow every Saturday for story time starting at 11 a.m. A $1 donation earns your child a show (with pictures, puppets, or skits!) plus a new membership card. After 10 visits to Oxbow’s Reading Club ($1 donation = 1 stamp), your child’s membership card can be redeemed for a gift. For more details, please visit oxbow.columbusstate.edu.

Wildlife Explorers Program: First Tuesday of every month, 9:45 a.m.–11 a.m. Pre-registration required. Send your preschoolers on an environmental adventure right here in Columbus, Georgia! Introducing Oxbow's newest educational program: Wildlife Explorers! This program is specially tailored for children ages three to seven. On the first Tuesday of every month, from 9:45 to 11:00am, your children will explore a different environmental theme, complete with nature hikes, craft time, storytelling, songs, games, and other interactive activities! All programs adhere to state educational standards. Price of admission is $10 for one adult and one child; $5 for each additional child or adult.
