March 30-31: Egg hunts set for Easter weekend

Chattahoochee Valley kids have several opportunities to participate in Easter egg hunts this weekend. Wynnbrook Baptist holds its community egg hunt on Saturday, March 30. Fort Benning's Eggstravaganza will also be Saturday. The downtown Columbus Egg Drop and North Highland's egg hunt are both scheduled for Easter Sunday, March 31.

Spring TIC Eggstravaganza at Riverside: The Easter Bunny returns to Fort Benning from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 30 for the annual Spring Eggstravaganza on the lawn of Riverside, the home of Fort Benning's commanding general, located at the corner of Vibbert and Lumpkin. This free, family event includes games, refreshment, entertainment and a massive Easter egg hunt for children between 18 months and 11 years old, so bring a camera and baskets for the kids. Egg hunts will start at 10:05 a.m. (for children 18 months old to 3 years), 10:30 a.m. (ages 4-5), 11:15 a.m. (ages 6-8), and 12:15 p.m. (ages 9-11). This event will also include dance entertainment and door prizes. Note: Due to last weekend's weather concerns, Fort Benning's Eggstravaganza was rescheduled for March 30.

Wynnbrook Baptist Church will be hosting an Easter Egg Hunt on March 30. Free to the Public. 10:00 am- 12 pm. Prizes for all ages. 500 River Knoll Way, Columbus, GA 31904. Kids will need to bring their own basket and we will have 10,000 Easter eggs.

Callaway Gardens' Egg Hunt: All ages are invited to participate in the Easter Egg Hunts on Saturday, March 30, from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on the lawn at Robin Lake Beach. Guests of all ages should bring an Easter basket and set out to find thousands of candy eggs, along with some very special prize eggs. The Easter Bunny will visit from Noon to 5 p.m. with whom boys and girls can have their Easter photo taken. Egg hunts are free with admission to Callaway Gardens which is special Celebrate Spring! rates of $25 for adults and $12.50 for children, ages 6-12. Callaway Gardens is open daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

North Highland Church hosts a community egg hunt at 12:30 p.m. on Easter, March 31. It will be in the front lawn of the church at 7300 Whittlesey Blvd. 706-561-7777.

Egg drop: Following the MyChurch Easter Service, which is being held at the Phenix City Amphitheater, Uptown Columbus and MyChurch will be hosting a Helicopter Egg Drop at Woodruff Park next to the river at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, March 31. More than 15,000 Easter eggs will be dropped and the Easter Bunny is expected to stop by. Music and games for the whole family and food vendors will be available.
