Two men were arrested and charged with marijuana possession on Macon Road Tuesday after police found guns and drugs inside the car they were occupying, according to a Columbus Police Department report.

An officer was patrolling the area of Auburn Avenue and Macon Road at about 10:20 a.m. when he noticed the smell of burnt marijuana coming from the car in front of him. He stopped the vehicle at the Money Back gas station on Macon Road.

Jaquawn Cooper, 19, and Ramell Richardson, 20, were detained. When the officer searched the vehicle, he found a .40 caliber glock with nine rounds under the driver's seat, along with two small bags of marijuana. The marijuana weighed 1.7 grams and had a street value of $17, according to the report.

Both Cooper and Richardson denied ownership of the guns and the drugs. Both were charged with possession of marijuana and taken to Muscogee County Jail.
