A Columbus man faced burglary and disorderly while intoxicated charges Friday during a 9 a.m. Recorder's Court hearing after he allegedly broke into a woman's house after heavy alcohol and pill consumption.

Police arrived at the residence on the 1900 block of Shannon Drive after receiving reports from the resident that someone had broken into her house. During Friday's hearing, Officer Jason Carden said he arrived at the house at about 1:30 a.m. to find Eric Graham, 26, lounging on the resident's couch. Carden told Graham to get on the ground repeatedly, during which Graham allegedly stared at the officer and refused to move.

Police later learned from an anonymous tip that Graham had come from a party near the intersection of Cherokee Avenue and Shannon Drive, about five houses away from the residence that he entered.

After Graham was forced to the ground, he was arrested and charged with burglary, obstruction of law enforcement officials, loitering and disorderly while intoxicated.

The resident told Judge Michael Cielinski during the hearing that Graham entered her residence through an unlocked backdoor while she watched TV with her young child. Graham, who was shirtless, was allegedly murmuring something incoherent while waving his arms and walking towards her. The resident ran to a neighbor's house with her child to call the police.

Cielinski set Graham's bond at about $6,000. His case will be sent to the Muscogee County Superior Court.
