Columbus police say they found a gun and marijuana in a car they stopped for having an expired tag.

Arrested was 19-year-old Tahir L. Johnson of Columbus.

Johnson was charged with no state tag, possession of marijuana less than one ounce and theft by receiving stolen property.

According to a police report, the incident happened at around 11:30 p.m. Friday night.

The car stopped was a Gray Chevrolet Impala. Police say Johnson reached into the center console of his vehicle to check for a prior traffic citation and police noticed a clear plastic bag containing what appeared to be marijuana.

Police say during a search of the car, a Smith & Wesson .38 Special was found behind the driver's seat and that gun was later determined to be stolen.
