A 38-year-old Phenix City man died early today after he was found shot multiple times Monday at his Seventh Street home, police said.

The victim was identified as John Dwayne Jones, of 1805 Seventh St. He was shot about 11:30 p.m. and pronounced dead of multiple gunshots at 12:55 a.m. as he was transported to the hospital, said Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry Jr. Phenix City Police Capt. Frank Ivey of the department's Criminal Investigation Division said Jones was shot inside his home. Police have no suspects as the investigation continues. "It's still under investigation," the investigator said.

The coroner said Jones' body was sent to the Department of Forensic Sciences in Montgomery, Ala., where an autopsy was under way. Preliminary results on a cause of death should be available in a couple of days.
